What Did You Get Today?

Hi all, being this topic has been started 2 years ago on another fourm and is still running, I decided to start one here for those who want to show of there latest scores and buys.

Here's what I got at our club meeting last night:

I allready got cracking on it and built the nice, but rather flimsy cardbord diorama. I'll be starting a WIP topic on the '37 soon and i'll put the diner on at the end when she's all finished. I also got old '90s mopar magazines and won a American Grafitti '58 Impala 'Vert diecast kit from our raffle (not shown in pics). The 'Impy I gave to my friend who i'm trying to get in to building; him and I are going build and paint it as i'm showing him the basics of modeling when he's ready.

Any advice on good kits of the 1930's classics - how about the Heller kits?

I've been trying to find some good quality kits of the old classic cars like the Bugatti's, Duesenbergs, Mercedes, Delahaye,etc.  I have the Monogram kit of the Duesenberg and a few of the old Jo-Han 1930's kits (Cadillacs and Mercedes) which I love (because I used to build these when I was a kid!) but after building Tamiya kits I'm spoiled and am looking for better quality kits. I see that Heller has a number of 1/24 kits in this era, the Talbot-lago, Bugatti Type 50, Delahaye, Bentley and even the old Citroen 2CV look great. Has anyone had any experience in these Heller kits? Not sure if there's a difference between the older issue Heller's and the new ones, or even if these kits were ever re-issued? Any advice on these Heller kits, or any other manufacturers of these classics kits would be great.

Fernando Alonso is the new favourite to win the Formula One drivers? title, said David Coulthard in his column for The Telegraph.

?He is the man with the momentum and, on the same basis that I backed Mark Webber to win the title before Korea, is now my favourite to claim the world title in Abu Dhabi on Nov 14. ?When the cars are so evenly-matched you have to back the man in possession. Especially when that man is a two-time world champion and arguably the finest driver of his generation.?

The Mirror?s Byron Young drew comparisons between Alonso and seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher as the Spaniard bids to become the sport?s youngest ever triple world champion.

?Like Schumacher, Alonso accepts no opposition within his team. Ultimately he fell out with McLaren over their refusal in 2007 to bring Lewis Hamilton to heel. ?He returned to Renault on condition he was No.1, only to be at the centre of the Singapore cheat scandal - engineered to hand him victory. ?The Spaniard has always denied involvement but at the German GP in July he was brazen enough to radio Ferrari to rein in team-mate Felipe Massa so he could start the winning streak that has taken him to the brink of history.?
